Bad Guy (Black and White)
This is a digital monochromatic underpainting of a "Bad Guy". It's a pencil sketch, scanned and painted in Photoshop, working in the same manner I would as if I were doing an oil painting. After the black and white value study is done, I will then paint it in color trying to match the same values as the underpainting.

Horse Race sketch
"Horse Race Sketch" is one of the sketches I included in my submission package to a West coast rep I'm courting. This piece is a departure from how I normally work but I really like the design and movement of it. I included this to show the rep how versitile I can be stylistically.
As I looked over the body of my work I was reminded again that I am more of a versatile guy than one who is known for a particular style. Don't know if that's good or bad, Sometimes I wish I were more focused and had a more individual voice as an artist.

Serino's Pirates
My very first job as an illustrator was with Serino Associates design firm in 1996. Every now and then Tony Serino will call me with something and I'm always happy to oblige.
When he asked me to illustrate a bunch of his friends dressed as Pirates, I pondered doing it for free simply for the joy of it.
Today I am posting the first of the Serino Pirates.

Lawn Bowling
Today I am posting the catalog photo of "Lawn Bowling", another faux-antiqued lawn game I designed. This is a six pin version of the old English "Lawn Bowl" game that sometimes had six, nine or ten pins. We did six for economic reasons but I really wish we could have done ten.
I'm pleased with the way the simple design of the pins came out, I referenced colonial folk art for design and pallet.
I am also posting the label art that I designed for the top of the box. I tried to make the drawing look like an old wood cut or engraving.

Bocce
I designed a few faux-antiqued lawn and board games last year that have since been produced, photographed and are now at the industry trade shows. I just got the jpegs of the catalog photos and today I am posting "Bocce".
I am also including some line drawings I did which were originally intended to be part of an illustrated scroll depicting the history of Bocce. It would have been too costly so we scratched it. I am also posting the label art I designed for the top of the box.
