"Lowells Legacy" (20x40") oil on canvas |
I finished, signed, framed and sent this one off with Howard at the
Camden Falls Gallery in Camden Falls, Maine. It's always a good feeling sending off a painting into the world. This is one of many of the hand made dories drifting off shore in Amesbury, Massachusetts at Lowells Boat shop. The oldest handmade boat building workshop in the country. I go down there from time-to-time to peruse possible subjects. They have graciously allowed me to borrow a few of their boats and shoot with a model. Good folks and a very cool and richly historical New England treasure.

Hi Todd - beautiful painting. I have been to the Lowell Boat Shop many times. Love it there. I sail out of Newburyport (Merrimac River) so it's easy to drop by.Really beautifully done.
Thanks for your comment...yes, that place is a gem. I am thinking of becoming a member. From what I understand, members can occasionally take the dories out on the Merrimack river. What a hoot. Maybe I'll catch you on the river. All the best
Lovely Todd! The first thing that caught my attention about your work is the way that you handle painting the surface of water. I should drive down to Camden to see it.
Thanks so much Beth, you've always been kind. Definitely go for a visit to Camden. I was there yesterday painting in the gallery. Gorgeous spot overlooking Camden Harbor. Howard is a really nice guy too...be sure and go upstairs to his gift shop above the gallery called Maine Gathering, they have the most delicious Belgian Chocolates...I think I ate my weight in chocolate yesterday. Really fun.
Hey Todd-
Beautiful! I actually stopped in the gallery and saw it. It is a stunner of a painting.
Thanks Peter, that means a lot coming from you. I have admired your work for almost a decade now. Thanks so much.
